Meet Cody, Mia, Elise, & Sonya

Cody

Project Manager turned Post Producer and Consultant

I am proud to have been able to support this project at the beginning of Phase 2 as the project manager. After phase 2 my role shifted to supporting the film as a post producer and a festival consultant. I'm happy to have worked with this team and supported the creation of the short film. Favourite Book: Sandman as it is a wonderful world of mythology and spectacle that boils down to accepting the consequences of your actions and past behaviour.

Mia

Writer, Archiver, Audio Storyboard Writer, and Book Creator

I was brought onto The Connect Film Project as a writer, ideally bridging the creative and production gap between the story unfolding in real time and how we could communicate that story onto the screen. With minimal language and access at the forefront of our story. Once my role was complete on the film, I moved towards archiving, writing and storyboarding the audio play of the film, and eventually researching how to turn the film into a book. Personal Favourite Song: Fely’s Medley.

Elise

Animator

I exchanged ideas with the team, contributing to creative discussions and expanding the visual library as we went along. This was post-pandemic—a time of profound personal and collective change—and these creative sessions left a lasting impact on me. I had the privilege of meeting remarkable individuals who offered an open map of opportunity for self-discovery, not only in process and production but also in defining one's role within a larger picture. The experience helped me reintegrate realms of connection (quite literally!), readjust my approach to production, and embark on new paths. Favourite Audiobook: Viral Justice by Ruha Benjamin.

Sonya

Assistant Editor turned Co-Editor

I first started creating short promotional pieces, but as the project evolved, I stepped into the role of co-editor, collaborating closely with Alexa to shape the final film. Insightful Statement: “This project deepened my understanding of access as something far more expansive than compliance or accommodation. It’s about creating space—for communication, for understanding, and for difference.”
