Amid the pandemic's isolation, Jenelle, a deaf dancer, and Kanika, a screen-averse artist, forges a remarkable friendship. Without spoken words or video calls, they connect by exchanging artworks, creating a profound bond that transcends the barriers of technology and language. This is represented in the choice to create a series of barrier-free multi-media experiences with access features at the forefront of each of the projects' designs.

JKGR is led by Jenelle Rouse and Kanika Gupta.
Jenelle is a two-time graduate scholarship winner that led to the completion of her dissertation on barrier-free accessibility to sign language resources in any contexts. As an educator, applied linguistics scholar, and visual body-movement artist, she has been exploring different ways to deliver stories without sounds and words.
Kanika is an internationally recognized multidisciplinary artist, entrepreneur, and advocate for inclusive practices. Named among Canada's Top 100 Most Powerful Women, she is known for her innovative approach to art as a tool for social change. Her work spans artistic mediums focusing on creating accessible experiences for diverse audiences.

JKGR is extemely grateful for the generous support of our funders.
